WELCOME TO THE 2022/23 PINE HILLS
POSITIVE COACHING ACADEMY

“Mentoring, instruction and support to create
confident, positive coaches and volunteers who are
ready make a difference at Pine Hills”

What is the Pine Hills

Positive Coaching Academy?

The Positive Coaching Academy (PCA) is designed to help parents and older players make the transition from being on the sidelines to being involved on the field and in the dugout. With a focus on creating positive baseball experiences, you’ll work with coaches with international, national, state and club experience. They will offer a structured program featuring mentoring, instruction, education and support to create confident, positive coaches and volunteers who feel ready and equipped to make a difference at Pine Hills this season. Best of all, it’s free and it’s only as time intensive as you make it!

Who is it for?

This new PCA program is for anyone who wants to get involved at Pine Hills (or is even just maybe, kinda sorta thinking about it) as well as existing volunteers who are keen to further their skills as a coach or other team volunteer. It doesn’t matter if you’ve played the game before or not, the goal of the PCA is to create positive baseball experiences – not win-at-all-costs, monster coaches with the wrong priorities. None of this is for sheep stations and no one is being offered a university scholarship (at least not today). This is about getting involved, having fun and developing a love of the game – for players and their families.

How does it work?

This year’s program will be divided into two coaching levels:

  1. T-ball, Rookie Ball and LL Div 2

  2. LL Div 1, JL and SL

The program for the younger group will be administered through group Q&A sessions via Zoom, online videos, selected readings, one-on-one mentoring throughout the season and on-field development and shadowing opportunities with Pine Hills teams as well as external programs like Baseball Queensland and Brisbane Metro.

The program for the older group will feature three on-field sessions with Brisbane Metro Regional Director of Coaching, Peter Gahan. If coaches want to do both programs, they definitely can!
