FROM UNICORNS TO LIGHTNING BOLTS – OUR CLUB HISTORY
Back in 1984, we began as the Mitchelton Unicorns, before finding our forever home at James Drysdale Reserve in Bunya in 1992. Since then, thanks to the amazing support of the Queensland Government and Moreton Bay Regional Council, we’ve built something truly special – a baseball hub that’s the pride

FOUR DECADES OF LIGHTNING BASEBALL!
In October of 2024, the Club celebrated its 40th birthday – and what a day it was! From reliving the club’s incredible journey to soaking up the sunshine with games, food, laughter, and loads of Lightning spirit, it was a milestone to remember. The icing on the birthday cake? Pine Hills Div 1 scored a dramatic walk-off win over Beenleigh in front of a massive crowd!

2024/25 SEASON HIGHLIGHTS

Senior players Jeremy Atkinson and Luke Smith played
in the Australian Baseball League

Fielded a Women’s team in the seniors competition
for the second year in a row

Had more than 300 members across Junior and Senior levels

Had 34 teams (24 Juniors, 10 Seniors)

Had more than 1,100 Instagram followers and 2,500 Facebook followers

Had five Junior teams and six Senior teams in the playoffs

Had three players named to the National Junior
Squad, seven to the Queensland State U16 squad,
two to the U18 Queensland State squad and one to
the Queensland Youth Women's Team

Plans undertaken with Moreton Bay Regional
Council to conduct upgrades of main diamond
facilities to include a new clubhouse and other amenities

They’re the heartbeat behind the hustle – our incredible crew of club volunteers known as the Lightning Brigade. From early-morning working bees to firing up the canteen on game day (and everything in between), these legends keep the gears turning and the diamonds shining.
